Laminated Wood

Compressed Laminated Wood from red beech has the best electrical and mechanical characteristics with respect to the use as insulation material in oil-filled transformers.

We provide compressed laminated wood from leading European manufacturer which can be produced in all sizes, qualities and geometries to the highest standards that are necessary for the transformer industry. We can also provide full transformer kits and assemblies.  Our suppliers are accredited with DIN 9001:2008 and only European red beech is used.

Compressed Laminated Wood is manufactured to comply with DIN 7707 and consists of selected rotary cut beech veneers coated or impregnated with a synthetic resin. Following the application of the resin the veneers are assembled into a pack and pressed under high pressure and temperature to form a unique laminate material with excellent technical properties.

Compressed Laminated Wood can be sawn, planed, milled, drilled, sanded and turned on a lathe. The material can also be bonded together to form large blocks, polished, varnished and even tapped to accept machined threads.

Veneer quality has direct influence on the partial discharge values and electrical strength of the material. We can offer different grades with excellent mechanical and electrical properties to meet your exact requirements.

With good electrical properties and high mechanical strength, we offer threaded rods and nuts which are one of the leading materials to connect lead supports and lead support structures in power transformers. However we recognize that other materials such as glass fibre and nylon are also used in this industry and we are able to offer threaded rods and nuts in these materials as well.

Threaded rods and nuts are primarily manufactured from the vacuum impregnated grade (giving a water absorption rate of less than 1%) but can also be offered as an alternative from resign coated grades.

Designers should access which material grade is best suited depending on the environmental conditions under which the rods and nuts will operate.
